From missing loot to a dramatic murder, our incredible members kept the audience guessing, and on the edge of their seats all evening.
What a night! On Friday, 5th June 2026, the Westgate Common Working Men’s Club was packed to the rafters for the Horbury Pageant Players’ special fundraising double bill, Secrets & Suspects.
The Juniors Shine in Mystery of the Stolen Treasure
Our talented junior section kicked off the night with an absolute bang, taking us on a high-seas adventure. Directed by Jess Allatt & Emily Ritchie, every single one of these young performers brought incredible energy, confidence, and crystal-clear delivery to the stage.
A massive shoutout to the cast:
- Mia Jackson-Goodall as the commanding Captain
- Matilda Cooper as the loyal First Mate (who stepped into the role at the absolute last minute due to cast illness and completely smashed it!)
- Chloe Biro-Pickering as the King
- Alex Hewitt-Forey as the sneaky Stowaway Kid
- Lily Beecham as Cutlass
- Lois Dannatt as Lookout
- Lydia Dove as Cook
- Ruby McGuigan-Haigh as the Doctor
You were all amazing, and we could not be prouder of the future talent of our group.
Chaos and Clues in Vet-ted for Murder
Next up, it was time for the adults to bring the comedy and the drama in a classic whodunit, directed by Zoe Parkin. The audience turned into super-sleuths to figure out exactly who killed the celebrity vet, Leo Cooperthwaite.
The lineup of suspects included:
- Tom Allatt as the doomed celebrity vet, Leo Cooperthwaite
- Dan Nicholson as Ted Guppy, the disgruntled local farmer
- Emma Proctor as Kitty Wimples, the eccentric elderly cat owner
- Joanna Goldson as Bunny Afterglow, the colorful resident of Sandy Bottom
- Dan Allatt as Warren Pearce, the producer & cameraman of Country Piles
- Jess Allatt as Polly Webster, the secretary & trainee vet
The room was filled with laughter as the secrets unraveled and the audience fiercely debated who the real killer was.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the evening raised over £450. Every single penny of this profit will go directly toward funding our 2027 Pantomime: Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood to make next year’s panto bigger, brighter, and more magical than ever.
We want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone involved including Westgate Common Working Men’s Club for hosting us and especially our amazing audience. Thank you for coming out, buying tickets, solving crimes, and showing your continued, invaluable support for the Horbury Pageant Players.
We can’t wait to see you at the next one.
